Cardio Oncology Issues in Lymphoma Management

Published 11 Oct 2022
Cardio oncology issues can be classified as those occurring early occurring within one year or late effects arising out of treatment as late as 4-5 years’ time horizon.

Traditional treatments like Anthracyclines used in treatment of Lymphoma can lead to Left ventricular Systolic Dysfunction whereas Bruton Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors are associated with arterial and ventricular arrhythmias.

Newer treatments like immunotherapy are associated with myocarditis which has high fatality rates & cardiovascular issues arising of CART cell therapy are often attributed to Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS).
Author suggests: identification of high-risk patients, modifying risk factors, quick intervention, assessment of end of treatment cardiotoxicity & late effects monitoring can help in comprehensive management of cardio oncology issues in Lymphoma.
